The
Portsmouth Advanced Motorists (PAM) are a group of men and women of all ages and from
widely varying backgrounds, who have at least one thing in common - they all decided that
they wanted to improve their driving skills and so increase their chances of surviving
todays frantic road traffic! The Group currently has approximately 550 members, of which perhaps 100
are undergoing preparation for their advanced driving test. The other members have passed
their advanced test, and remain as members of the Group for various reasons. Some are
Observers who take an active part in the training and preparation of the newcomers for
their tests, others support the public functions that we attend during the year, such as
the Portsmouth Motor Show, Southsea Show and the like. All can benefit from the members
events that we put on during the year - such things as social evenings, visits to the
motor industry, Guest Speakers evenings and outings to the Police Driving Training School
at Devizes.
You might not want to take
part in the PAM activities, and indeed there is absolutely no requirement to do so. Over
the years many hundreds of drivers like you have joined PAM to learn the skills that will
enable them to become safer, better, smoother and often faster drivers. The first and
foremost aim of PAM is to promote improved Road Safety through the teaching of Advanced
Driving Skills. You cannot afford to turn away from this opportunity to join the ranks of
the Advanced Drivers. |
